Interface has won the British Quality Foundation’s 2013 Achievement Award for Sustainable Future, sponsored by FirstGroup UK Rail. It was chosen as joint winner with Go-Ahead Group by an independent judging panel for its outstanding approach to sustainability.

Interface was presented with its award at the 2013 UK Excellence Awards Ceremony which took place on Thursday 17 October at the InterContinental London Park Lane. The event was hosted by broadcaster and journalist, Louise Minchin, and attended by guest of honour, John Cridland CBE, Director-General of the CBI.

Interface is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of commercial carpet tiles. In 1994 its chairman set a target to eliminate its environmental impacts by 2020. Called ‘Mission Zero’, this vision is expressed through a holistic, sustained stream of initiatives. The judging panel was impressed by the level of innovation in its product design and manufacturing processes, as well as the collaboration with suppliers and other organisations to help achieve the Mission Zero challenge.

The Achievement Awards are national annual awards that recognise exceptional achievement across an organisation’s main areas of operation. Alongside Go-Ahead, Interface is one of six organisations to win an Achievement Award in 2013 – the other four are CrossCountry, Greater Anglia, One Vision Housing and Skanska UK.

Joe Goasdoué, Chief Executive of the BQF, said: ‘Winning an Achievement Award is a tremendous result for any organisation. Interface‘s total dedication to sustainability permeates everything it does – it has set a demanding example for others to follow.’
